One Volta Group Launches NO VOTE Campaign In Volta Region  

The One Volta Group (OVG) has officially launched its ‘NO VOTE’ campaign for the creation of Oti Region in the coming referendum.
The launch was held in Hohoe of the Volta Region with a processing through town as many people joined the team to achieve the NO VOTE project against the creation of Oti Region.

The Director of OVG, Togbe Hortormaho Amedzake III, who addressed the procession said One Volta Group (OVG) is a non-governmental civil society and advocacy organization that is calling for credible, transparent and intimidation-free referendum for the creation of new regions.

He said voters must show responsible attitude and re conciliatory gestures in order to help undertake a credible and transparent referendum devoid of fear, intimidation and threats to lives and properties.

According to him the involvement of the stakeholder was critical to ensuring peace and stability during and after the process and that the peace and tranquility of the Volta Region was under threat following the desire for a new region (Oti Region) as there were alleged beatings and intimidation against people who held dissenting views about the proposal. 

He declared the No vote campaign, cautioning all those molesting the No Vote campaigners to stop since it is their democratic right to express their views for the individual voters to decide.

He touched on the Peace before, during and after the referendum stressing that we are one United people in one region and should continue whichever way it goes.

Togbe Hortormaho Amedzake III said the objectives of One Volta Group is to serve as a watchdog on government in ensuring that it delivers on its mandate to the betterment of the people and assured the large crowd that One Volta Group have come to stay to prosecute its mandate.

He later called on all stakeholders and individuals who believe in this dream to come on board so they can together, give and accord Volta region whatever it deserves.

Togbe Hortormaho Amedzake III called on the Electoral Commission and all relevant stakeholders involved especially the security and election observers to ensure there is secured, Free, Fair and transparent election.

He thanked the crowd for coming and entreated them to go all out to campaign massively to attain minimum of 30% votes projection to keep Volta united in peace and for development.
