It was all joy and smiles when the newly renovated Children’s Ward of the Agona Swedru Government hospital by a business woman and philanthropist, Mrs. Mercy Asante, an indigene of the area was commissioned.
As part of face-lifting the facility, Mrs. Asante also constructed washrooms with ultra-modern water closet toilet facilities for the Ward.
She also donated two table-top refrigerators to the Ward as part of her gesture.
Commissioning the facility, The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe disclosed that the hospital which serves Agona Swedru and its surrounding towns and villages lacks many facilities to enable it function to its expected expectation.
According to the Medical Superintendent the ever growing population of the area turns to put a lot of service demand on the hospital, as more patients are referred to the facility on daily basis, hence the need for the provision of more facilities and personnel, particularly doctors to augment their effort.

He again appealed for the expansion of the Eye Department at the hospital, as according to him, the current place is too small for smooth operation of services.
He stated that the hospital needs a modern Digital X-Ray to replace the current old dilapidated one, as well as an upgrading of the laboratory.
He later appealed to the public to voluntary donated blood to save patients who may be in need at the facility, particularly pregnant woman whose condition in most cases demand blood transfusion.
He also called on other benevolent individuals and organization to emulate the gesture of Mrs. Mercy Asante and donate other items such as wheel chairs and troillers to help in effective health delivery service at the hospital.
