POGA 97’ marks 20th anniversary with a presentation worth GH¢15,000

The 1997 Year Group of OLA Girls Senior High School in Ho, in the Volta Region will climax its 20th anniversary this weekend in a grand-style.

By celebrating the completion of Secondary Education in 1995, with a presentation of a newly built Kitchen estimated at 15,000 to the school and series of activities.

The group is expected to arrive in Ho on Friday, February 23.

According to the Secretary of the group, Madam Solace Fiadjoe, the group will hand over what it calls “project kitchen,”which extends to the expansion of the school’s old Kitchen and renovation among others, to cater for the need of the growing student population .

In a statement, Madam Solace Fiadjoe said “the group embarked on an inspection of the completed project in preparedness for its handing over scheduled for the 23rd to the 25th February 2018,  but we realised the current state of the Dining hall and the main kitchen where the project is located was in a very deplorable state and needed immediate refurbishment for general safety and also for the completed project to stand out.

Upon deliberations, it was agreed the project scope be expanded to include renovation works of the main Kitchen. This upon evaluation was estimated at  an extra 9, 980.00 cedis,”

The statement further stated that the handing over ceremony doubles as a homecoming event for the year group in marking 20 years as old girls of the school. A series of educational programmes and a symposium on the girl child will be organised for current students.

“Dubbed a “Homecoming” for members since completing in 1995, the celebration is scheduled to span a three day period from Friday 23rd when group members will arrive at the school and possibly meet with authorities through Saturday the 24th when the handing over will be done and a Symposium on the Girl Child to be facilitated by experienced research and healthcare Professionals among the group.”

“The countdown just begun and as the Ladies chant; “Mazor OLAKpodziwa o)” in readiness, the township of Ho need make way,” the statement concluded.

The group during their stay on campus will join House Mistresses for inspection, dine with students and also join kitchen staff to cook lunch. The anniversary is expected to end with a joint thanksgiving Mass with the student population on February 25.
