Kingmakers in the Pramrpam Traditional Area of the Greater Accra region, have described as illegal, null and void, claims by one Michael Quarcoopome Parker also known as Nene Tetteh Wakah, of ascending the presidential status of the Pramrpam Traditional Council. According to them, with both the National House of Chiefs and the Tema High Court yet to determine his capacity as Chief of Pramrpam, any attempt or ceremony outdooring him as the President of the Pramrpam Traditional Council should be treated with the least contempt and condemnation it deserves.
Social media reports have been rife over a purported gazettion and swearing in ceremony held in Dodowa and Tema respectively, to cement the authority of the said Nene Tetteh Wakah as chief of Pramrpam and also the president of the traditional council. The reportage has since thrown the Prampram Township into a state of frenzy due to cases of bloodshed and attacks associated with the long outstanding Chieftaincy feud in that area.
A host of residents are baffled by the fact that, the courts and that of the National House of Chiefs are get to determine the legitimacy of Nene Tetteh Wakah as chief, since he came onto the scene some 5 years ago.
With over a dozen case of contempt and criminal cases filed against the former in both the Tema Circuit and High courts, some residents in Pramrpam have questioned the rationale behind the posture of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs to nicodemously gazette the said Nene Tetteh Wakah.
It’s in view of this that the Kingmakers of the Pramrpam Traditional Area led by the Paramount stool father, Numo Osabu Abbey IV has called for calm and describing the said ceremony to gazette and induct the former as president of the Pramrpam Traditional Council as null and void.
He said, Nene Tetteh Wakah is not a royal and does not even hail from any of the 3 royal gates mandated by law and customs to ascend the Pramrpam stool. He said, no customary rites were performed for the said King by any of the kingmakers and that alone makes him an imposter.
Numo Osabu Abbey further added that, heads of the 3 royal gates have since petitioned the Inspector General of Police, the Greater Accra Regional minister with copies served to the presidency through the minister of Chieftaincy affairs, and are awaiting for a formal response on the matter. He said a formal response will influence their next line of action, warning no imposter would be allowed to claim ownership of the Pramrpam Paramountcy.
