
Players of Accra Giants, winners of the 2018 Binatone Skate Soccer Challenge between four teams said they were inspired by the presence of the big men, especially the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Ben Nunoo Mensah.
According to the captain of the Accra Giants, playing at home and being watched by the directors of Binatone, National Sports Authority and especially the GOC president motivated them to play their hearts out to take the lead on time and ensured victory is secured before dazzling the fans.
Gariba said if more competition is organized, they can sharpen their skills and be ready for international competition.
He urged the GOC to lobby the international Olympic bodies to admit skate soccer into the Paralympic sports disciplines.
Skate soccer is an initiative of a Ghanaian named Albert Frimpong. He is currently CEO of the International Federation of Skate Soccer with headquarters in Ghana. The world body is sponsored by Binatone.
The Giants of Accra thrashed Ashanti Warriors 4-1 in the final game, while Western Tigers pipped Zongo Lions 1-0 to take the third position prize.
The finals of the 2018 Binatone Challenge was graced with the presence of Ben Nunoo Mensah President of the GOC, Hon Kwadwo Baah Agyeman Board Chairman of the NSA, Mr. Sunil Lalvani Group MD of Binatone and HE Birendar Singh Yader, Indian High Commissioner to Ghana.
