There is a growing and creepy concern on the membership of the investigative committee into the alleged medical “kalabule” practices at the Ridge Hospital in the Greater Accra Region. The questions being asked are
1. Is the Chairman of the committee, a pharmacist trained in Cuba like the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Samuel Akoriyea Kaba (a personality of interest featured in the expose)?
2. Is Dr. Eric Kofi Ngyedu, the Chief Executive Officer of Cape Coast Teaching Hospital also Cuba trained?
3. Does Dr. Nicholas Adjabu know anything about or involved in the procurement of the equipment for the Siamese Twin Separation at Ridge Hospital? How many committees has the current Director General of Ghana Health Service and Dr Adjabu served on in the last 15years?
4. Why is the Pharmacy Council because of the Axis Pharmacy issue not represented?
5. Why are the reputable surgical consumables and accessories companies like East Cantoments Pharmacy Limited (ECPL) ,Tobinco Pharmaceuticals, Medtronics etc
not represented on this committee?
6. Why is there not an auditor on this investigative committee?
7. Why is the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons not represented on this committee?
8. How long has Dr Adam Abass (Cuban trained) known Dr Samuel Akoriyea Kaba for? both in Cuba and Ghana? 20 years?
9. Why has the Director of the Ghana Health Service (a person of interest in the medical kalabule part 1 video) not stepped aside for the investigation? what is the twist to this? and what is the standard protocol?
10. Is it the case that because it involves doctors, other health professionals are not allowed to be part of the committee? What happens to the other episodes/videos yet to come? More committees?
11. it is likely that these concerns, if not addressed, may prejudice the process and make the investigation findings and recommendations look like a whitewash. We already anticipate that the health system will be blamed as usual and not the actions of the so-called powerful individual(s) in the video. Where is the accountability compass?
