Churches in the Central Region have vowed to join forces and demonstrate against the Government, should it bow to the so-called international pressure and make any attempt to legalize the practice of homosexuality in the country.
They have also called on all religious groups including Islam and even traditional religion to join the campaign against the practice, which they said is not only against the principles of God, but also affront to the cultural practices and norms.
Their concern follows calls by former and current Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom David Cameron and Theresa May, calling on African countries to accept the practice, as according to them, failure to accept it is an infringement of the rights of people who engage in it, or Africa countries would risk getting donor support from the UK.
But commenting on the issue which has now become a matter of public concern in the country, the Agona Asafo branch minister of the Resurrection Baptist Church of the Ghana Baptist Convention Rev. Abraham Sanniez, the founder of the Living Light of Yaweh Church also at Asafo Apostle Ofori Mensah, the General Overseer of Only Jesus Saves Min. at Gomoa Benso Prophetess Rosemond Obeng, the Minister in charge of the Gomoa Ekwamkrom Session of the Methodist Church Very Rev. Albert Ocran Sackey and the Agona Swedru District Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Rev. Nana Osei Owusu Fosu have all condemned the practice, pledging to support a massive demonstration against the Government, if it fails to heed to the concerns of Ghanaians and make any attempt to legalize the practice.
They described the practice as insanity, barbaric and uncivilized way of life which must not be acceptable to any discerning society.
Prior to their warning, majority of Ghanaians have condemned the call by the UK Prime Ministers and asked the Government to state Ghana’s position on the issue, as done by former president late Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta- Mills.
