The Rota family in Italy last week went to the aid of the people of Nsuansa, a farming community in the Agona West Municipality in the Central Region of Ghana, by providing them with a borehole water facility.
The project, which was estimated at a cost of over 4,000.00 Dollars was funded by Carolina and Martina Rota from Italy through an Italian philanthropist, Mr. Gianfranco Armaini in collaboration with Action Against Rural Poverty, a Ghanaian-based Non-Governmental Organization, with technical assistance from Aquagro Ltd. a consultancy and borehole drilling firm in Ghana.
Prior to the construction of the borehole facility, the people of the community relied on a stream of water which served as their only source of drinking water, and this contributed to cases of diarrhea, according to the people.
Offering technical advice on the usage of the facility, the Chief Executive Officer of Aquagro, Mr. Kofi Forson advised the community to take good care of the facility to ensure its long lasting sustainability.
The Chief Executive Officer of Action Against Rural Poverty, Ms. AfuaKwatemaa Yamoah in an address advised women in the community to make hygiene their prime concerning, by keeping the environment of the facility clean to ensure it does not get contaminated by any infectious virus.
The people later presented pieces of Kente clothes to the donors as their gesture for the facility.
