Sack GRA Boss; He Is A Liability …Embattled Staff Exposes Rot At GRA

Emmanuel Kofi Nti - Commissioner General GRA

The Head of Auction, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Nana Serwaa Caiquo has accused the Commissioner General and some other officials at the GRA for superintending on ongoing rot that is gaining roots at the authority.

According to her, the Commissioner and the others must be investigated and if possible removed from their positions since they are liabilities to the administration of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

She also made mention of the fact that her enduring posturing in not allowing the system to be abused with reckless abundance has also made her a target for vilification.

In a statement, Nana Serwaa Caiquo revealed that one Michael Sakyi and Alloysius Adjetey who are all officers with the authority have allegedly dispatched soldiers to go and change the locks at her office following her controversial re-assignment and transfer at the GRA.

There are suspicions that the two have the support of the Commissioner General who has allegedly vested in them enormous powers and are unable to be tamed in an alleged illicit business within the set-up.

Nana Serwaa’s statement which was signed by her Aide regarding the on the brewing tension at the GRA, said Nana Serwaa has been the lone voice in a system and overwhelmed by massive corrupt acts.

Nana Serwaa has blamed her administrative woes she’s facing currently on the two officers, Sakyi, Alloysius who she claimed engineered for her to be transferred and also denied her promotion.

The statement said: “Nana Serwaa has resisted the practice of these people selling confiscated goods to their friends and cronies at cheaper prices. The ridiculous levels of prices they sell cars and other auction items at, are way below the quoted prices. In effect, these people sell auction goods at ludicrously low prices to friends and family.”

“Auction is a unit within the customs division but the commissioner support services Mr Fred Charles Anson has hijacked that function and he is deeply involved in auction activities.

“These activities are denying the nation income for its developmental needs. People are getting rich at the expense of the government specifically and by extension the general public. Aloysius and Michael Sakyi usually present documents which do not meet expectations and would insist that they are given auction goods with these half-baked documents,” it indicated.

She said the development at GRA has given the authority bad publicity as well as the auction unit, whilst casting a slur on the integrity of those charged with the responsibility to see to the day to day administration of the unit.

According to her, the brouhaha surrounding the recent seeming altercations has to do with the professionalism she has brought to the place and that her unwillingness to yield to the whims and caprices of Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Nti (Commissioner General), Isaac Crentsil (Commissioner, Customs Division), Fred Charles Anson (Commissioner, Support Services Division), Michael Sakyi and Aloysius Adjetey is responsible for this level of animosity towards her.

She mentioned that Mr Fred Charles Anson has hijacked the Auction division and deeply involved in auction activities.

Aloysius and Michael Sakyi usually present documents which do not meet expectations and would insist that they are given auction goods with these half-baked documents.”

“It is noteworthy to point out that Aloysius Adjetey is a bosom friend of the Commissioner General Emmanuel Kofi Nti. Mr Nti lived with Aloysius Adjetey in the UK. When the NPP won power in 2016 and upon the assumption of power last year, Mr Nti invited his friend Aloysius to join him at GRA. In fact it is interesting to mention that Mr Nti asked his friend Aloysius to choose his preferred position in GRA and he chose the Chief Revenue Officer position with oversight responsibility over auction,” she revealed.

She also stated that sources mentioned that the Chief Revenue Officer Aloysius Adjetey later got to know that an Assistant Commissioner position was higher than the Chief Revenue Officer position and asked his friend Mr Nti to promote him to the Assistant Commissioner position and a promise was made to that effect even though it hasn’t been effected yet.

“If Alloysius just came last year 2017 and he was given Chief Revenue Officer position what stopped the lady who has been in the service for over thirty years from being promoted to the Chief Revenue Officer. The Commissioner General and his assigns must be investigated,” she stressed.
