Stop fidgeting your phones whiles walking on road: Akyem Oda DVLA manager advice pedestrians.

The District Manager of Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority of the Akyem Oda Center in the Birim Central Municipality in Eastern Region, Mr. Isaac Tekper, has advised pedestrians to stop fidgeting their mobile phones while walking alond and sometimes crossing the road. The driver and vehicle engineer recounted several instances where pedestrians receive and make calls whilst crossing the roads. He said, some even engage in WhatsApp chats as well as other social media handles forgetting that their safety is at stake.

The district manager, speaking to the media after the Board of Directors of DVLA paid a working visit to the Akyem Oda DVLA office stated that most pedestrians are guilty of this act and several has become victims of road accident as those who do social media activities forget themselves and cars knocks them down.

He urged pedestrians who do that to put a stop to it.

He further advised drivers to stop the unnecessary overspeeding and overtaking because at any critical incident they will find it difficult to control their vehicle and that could lead to fatal accidents.

According to him, two wrongs don’t make right hence when someone makes a mistake, the other shouldn’t attempt to equalize it.

He also advised drivers and their car owners to make sure they fix every fault in their cars before putting it on the road most especially ther horns, breaks and tyres.

Mr. Francis Amoako Tuffour, Head of Co-operate Affairs Directorate of DVLA. advised drivers to respect road safety regulations. He also hinted of a hatched plan to cut sod soon for the building of a new DVLA office for the Akim Oda Center.
