Ghana’s LGBTQ+ community continues to face rampant discrimination, with perpetrators justifying their actions.

Ghana’s president, Nana Akufo-Addo is under intense pressure from Ghanaians who want him to sign it into law, and also from Western donors and human rights groups who are urging him not to approve a law passed by Ghana’s parliament to criminalize Lesbianism and Gay activities in the country.

Whilst the Christian community backs the criminalization of LGBTQ activities, human rights activists say it will be against their fundamental human rights.

Should the president approve the law, persons caught in the web of the law will be subjected to six months to three-years jail term, with promoters and sponsors facing three to five-year jail term.
