The District minister in charge of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Agona Swedru, Rev. Martin Luther Agbovi has expressed grave concern about the high level of greed among some members of the Clergy, describing the situation as worrying, unchristian and unacceptable.
Speaking at the Annual Harvest in aid of the Church’s new building at the weekend, Rev. Agbovi condemned the situation where some pastors sell anointing oil and other items at exorbitant prices to their congregation to enrich themselves.
According to him, the worrying aspect of the situation is that these pastors do not contribute anything back to society, but rather ride in luxurious vehicles to show off their riches.
He has therefore called on all and sundry, especially the various religious organizations to speak against the development.
The eight hundred capacity new church auditorium which is estimated to run into hundreds of thousands of Cedis is expected to be completed before the end of 2019.
It will contain the minister’s offices, lavatories and dressing rooms for the choir as well as store rooms.
