A lecturer at the University of Education Winneba, Alhaji Salfu Bawah, has laughed at a Petition by a University Alumnus Dauda Eric, challenging his capacity and competence to teach courses he has been assigned to.
In that Petition to the National Accreditation Board written on September 24, 2019 the sad Dauda Eric claimed to have gone through the Academic details of Alhaji Salifu Bawah and was confidently sure that Alhaji Bawah is not fit professionally to handle Contract Law at the University.
He further claimed students are suffering in the hands of Alhaji Bawah as far as their academic life is concerned hence the National Accreditation Board should withdraw his services from the University.
Dauda Eric also stated that Alhaji Salifu Bawah was given the course he is handling at UEW by error from the University and that urgent steps need to be taken to save the students.
However, Alhaji Salifu the in an interview saw the so-called petition as a “laughable petition.”
He said he has no problem with the petition and said it came a bit late.
He said: “It came a bit late. I was expecting this….because in the past some people have made such claims and I refused to comment or respond to those allegations because it does not fall within my responsibilities to prove whether I am qualified or not. The people who !are the claims must prove, and because they cannot prove whatever allegations they were bringing, they have decided to go this way. I am not worried,”
He explained that he was appointed as a lecturer at UEW with effect from August 1, 2014 by the then Vice Chancellor Prof Asabre Ameyaw.
“I have my appointment letter. My appointment letter was signed by Prof. Asabre Ameyaw when he was the VC and the current VC, Prof Afful Broni was then serving as the Pro Vice Chancellor, so he had no rule in my appointment” explaining that per the rules governing Appointment and confirmations at the UEW he was to serve a 2 years Provisional period after which he must do Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education.
He said: “ So as a condition for which I was to be confirmed after 2 years probational period, I went for the Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education.
Alhaji Salifu Bawah further revealed that in August 2016, Prof. Avoke confirmed his appointment as a lecturer at the University.
He stressed that per the rules governing his appointment, the rules did not state he should have a professional certificate before he qualifies to teach, saying that “If anything has changed, it might have changed after my confirmation.”
He however said he knew where the allegations are coming from but he is not perturbed at all by those frivolous accusations.
