The University of Education, Winneba (UEW ) pipped the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST ) at the ongoing 26th Ghana Universities Sports Association GUSA games in a pulsating soccer duel.
The UEW soccer team that had only lost a match in the competition was pitched against KNUST that was yet to drop points in a winner take all encounter.
It was UEW that drew the first blood but their effort was neutralised by KNUST who came into the game very strongly at the dying embers of the game. The match ended 1: 1 in regular time. However, UEW subdued KNUST to a 4:2 scoreline at the penalty kicks.
This is the first defeat to be suffered by KNUST. UEW had already lost to UCC in an earlier encounter at the ongoing games.
