As part of measures to wrestle power back from the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP], the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] is leaving no stone unturned, as it is poised to achieve this objective, come 2020.

According to the Agona West Constituency Deputy Organizer of the NDC Alex Asiedu Sekorme, the party has assessed its shortfalls during the last election, which culminated to its lost, and is working hard to remedy those shortfalls.

Speaking to Ghananews.com at the sidelines of the party’s parliamentary primaries in Agona Swedru over the weekend, Mr. Sekorme assured that there is no way this dream is going to elude the NDC, and has therefore called on the party’s supporters not to relent, but continue to contribute their quota to ensure that this dream becomes a reality.

The party’s former Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Lawyer Obeng Inkoom who also spoke to Ghananews.com debunked the assertion held by some that the two contestant for the race, Richard Bentum and Paul Ofori Amoah as people not well known on the political landscape, and therefore would not be a match for the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament for the area.

According to him, there is nothing like a novice in politics, citing instances where people who are not well known in politics have in most cases won their contest.

As to why he did not avail himself for the position, the former MP hinted that his objective was to serve for only two terms and leave the mantle for the younger generation to take over.

He however assured that he would use his expertise in politics to guard and guide whoever emerges victorious to represent the constituency in Parliament.
On his part, a Central Regional Executive Member of the Party, Theophilus Adu Mensah advised the candidates to accept the outcome of the results in good faith and work in unison for the betterment of the party.

Paul Ofori Amoah was later declared winner of the contest, pulling 940 votes as against 406 by his other contestant Richard Bentum.
