Yogo Royal Palace Of Nkum Receive Massive Facelift

The palace of the Mankrado of Agona Nkum in the Central Region is undergoing massive facelift at a cost of about GH 200,000.00 Cedis.

Already, over GH 40,000.00 Cedis has been spent on the one-storey project which is to contain offices of the Chief and the stool secretary, a conference hall, lavatories and a guest house.

Briefing Ghananews247.com at the sidelines of the celebration of this year’s Annual Akwambo Festival of the town, the Mankrado, Nana Mprah Afful V disclosed that the Yogo Royal Family of the town who are the custodians of the Mankrado stool deem it necessary to renovation and expand the palace to meet the increasing members of the family, both home and abroad anytime they meet on occasions like celebration of the festival.

 

He however expressed gratitude to Kwaebibirem Palm Plantation, a farming entity into the cultivation of palm for supporting the renovation project.

In another development, the Nimfahene of the Royal Twidan Family of the town, Nana Ofori Amanfo has appealed to indigenes of the town, especially those in the diaspora to see the celebration of the festival as an opportunity to come home and contribute their quota to development of the town.

According to him, the celebration of the festival is not just a period of showcasing culture and merry-making, but also a period when families meet and take stock of their past and future.

Said to be the oldest town in the Agona area, Nkum lags behind among many of the towns in terms of development, which the people blame on lack of political will by successive governments to develop the town.
