
The Mayor of Accra Hon. Mohammed Adjei Sowah has decided to offer 5,000ghc to the winner of the much awaited big fight between undefeated duos Braimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku and Olympian Bastie Samir which comes off on Saturday October 21 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
Hon. Adjei Sowah who is a keen sports fan assured the promoter Alex Ntiamoah Boakye of Box Office that he will grace the occasion as boxing is a big economic and tourism attraction venture to draw more people to know Accra.
He noted that boxing or for that matter sports creates jobs and known to be the fastest and easiest way to make money.
According to the Mayor, quality good boxers emerge from the Bukom and James Town, hence there ought to be other entertainment enterprises and other investments for the people.
He agreed that funds are needed to develop and promote sports, so the people mush work hard.
The mayor announced that the AMA and trust emporium are collaborating to introduce open air gyms in Accra to keep the people healthy and strong to contribute to the economy.
He promised adequate security on the day and advised fans to comport themselves.
He said both boxers have the records and pedigree to attract more spectators.
Alex Ntimoah thanked the Mayor for accepting the invitation to the fight and assured of a good organization, with quality supporting bouts.
Both Bukom Banku and Bastie Samir guaranteed a good fight with all of them predicting a knock out. While Banku said before of on the sixth round, Bastie anticipated a third round KO victory.
Their coaches also showed respect and humbleness with Banku’s young coach Wadada of James Town hoping to punch holes in the rich experience of Ofori Asare who has handled Bastie throughout his boxing life, from amateur to professional.
Braimah ‘Bukom Banku’ Kamoko aka The African Mayweather has won all his 29 fights while Bastie who trained with top world champion Floyd Mayweather of the TMT fame in the USA has won all his 15 fights and drawn once.
Naa Darkua Dodoo PRO of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) said the big bout has been sanctioned and will definitely come on as scheduled. She urged boxing fans to comport themselves as the sport is for gentle ladies and gentlemen.
Nat Attoh, a member of the GBA Sponsorship Committee and licensed Ring Announcer said Accra stand the chance to host more big fights in the future. He appealed to promoters to find life for the many good boxers in Bukom.
