Cross-examination has begun in the ongoing alleged fraud case involving Greater Accra NDC Chairman, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, and Singaporean businessman Toh You Kang.
Lawyers for the Singaporean businessman on Friday subjected Ashie Moore to intense questioning in court as proceedings in the high-profile case continued. Observers in court said the NDC chairman faced sustained grilling from the businessman’s legal team during the cross-examination.
The legal battle stems from conflicting claims over millions of dollars allegedly linked to business transactions and investment arrangements in Ghana. While Ashie Moore has maintained that he was defrauded by Toh You Kang, the Singaporean businessman has accused the politician of fraud, unlawful detention and human rights violations.
The case has attracted significant public attention following earlier High Court rulings that quashed criminal proceedings against Toh You Kang and ordered the release of some of his properties. Lawyers for the businessman have argued that their client was wrongfully targeted in the dispute, while Ashie Moore’s legal team insists he remains the victim of a multi-million-dollar fraud scheme.
The matter has been adjourned for the continuation of proceedings as the court hears further evidence from the parties involved.
