The Municipal Chief Executive of Birim Central Municipality Eastern Region Hon. Solomon Kusi Brako, has announced that the Akyem Oda Central Market will be officially opened for business on Monday, 13th July 2026.
Over 100 shops were destroyed by a devastating fire in Akyem Oda, Birim Central Municipality in the Eastern Region on September 2021.
The fire started in the evening around 7:30 PM and destroyed properties worth millions of Ghana cedis.
Addressing market women after a clean-up exercise in the market, Hon. Brako assured them that the market will be officially opened on Monday for them to begin trading.
He advised the Market Queen Mothers to periodically organize clean-up exercises to keep the market clean and help prevent diseases.
He also said the Assembly will collaborate with market stakeholders every month to carry out clean-up exercises in the market.
Hon. Brako thanked everyone who joined hands with him for the clean-up exercise.
