Hon. George Acheampong, Assembly Member for Akyem Abaase in the Achiase District of the Eastern Region, has urged fellow assembly members to accept the upcoming allowance.
Although he wishes it were a salary instead, he considers it a good starting point.
In an interview with Oyerepa TV, Hon. Acheampong expressed gratitude to the president for fulfilling his campaign promise to provide the allowance.
He acknowledged the challenges of being an assembly member, often requiring personal resources to address constituents’ issues and develop electoral areas.
Hon. Acheampong hopes future presidents will consider providing a salary rather than an allowance for assembly members, recognizing their vital role as agents of development.
