The Eastern Regional Deputy Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress made the proposals during an engagement with youth leaders of the party in the Volta Region as he campaigns to become the party’s next National Deputy Youth Organizer.
Mr Agbenyadzi, who is also a Deputy National Coordinator of Operations at the National Apprenticeship Programme, met the Volta Regional Youth Organizer and his deputies, as well as presidents of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network, over the weekend.
The meeting gave him an opportunity to present his vision for the NDC youth wing and seek the support of party leaders ahead of the national elections.
A major part of his message was the need to provide greater practical support for young people who take on responsibilities within the party.
Mr Agbenyadzi proposed the creation of Youth Wing Ghana Limited, a fundraising initiative that would generate seed capital to finance youth wing activities and help the youth structure become more financially sustainable.
He also said he would propose the establishment of Youth Wing Insurance Limited, which would provide insurance coverage for youth leaders and offer protection against unforeseen circumstances they may face while carrying out their party duties.
Another proposal is the introduction of allowances for youth leaders to help them meet some of the costs associated with their responsibilities.
Mr Agbenyadzi said strengthening the youth wing would require more than political mobilisation. He stressed the importance of giving young party members the resources and opportunities needed to participate effectively in the NDC’s activities.
The discussions in the Volta Region also touched on strengthening youth structures, increasing grassroots participation and preparing the party’s youth wing for future elections.
Mr Agbenyadzi is seeking to use his experience within the NDC’s grassroots structures to win the position of National Deputy Youth Organizer.
He says his focus will be on building a stronger and more organised youth wing capable of playing a meaningful role in the party’s future electoral campaigns.
