
The Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda Constituency, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has donated an amount of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh100,000.00) to Kotoku Royals FC for the renovation of Akyem Oda Municipal park.
Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah has been supportive to Kotoku Royals since their division one stage. He has been given them winning bonuses and others which has motivated and propelled the team to the premier division.
Kotoku Royals FC since the commencement of the Ghana premier league 2022-2023 season has been playing their home matches in Cape Coast sports stadium due to the below standard of the Akyem Oda Municipal park which was supposed to serve as their home grounds.
The team’s performance in their matches played so far has been abysmal and currently their position on the league table is nothing to write home about.
Kotoku Royals FC supporters find it difficult to travel from Akyem Oda to Cape Coast sports stadium to Cheer up their darling club due to economic hardships and thus the urgent renovation of the Oda sports stadium is necessary to save the team further loses.
In attempt to salvage the team from any further defeats that is as a result of playing outside their earmarked home grounds, the MP for Akyem Oda Constituency, Hon Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has intervene in the renovation of the Oda stadium which has come to a stand still due to financial challenge. The MP, presenting the money to Kotoku Royals FC officials called on the citizens to be circumspective when they are criticising the good works he is doing for the club.
According to him he is not saying people should not criticise him but they should speak the truth nothing but the truth. Otherwise, He will appreciate constructive criticism and not ill – motivated orchestrated to dent his image and political gains.
Speaking to the media, he divulged that he is committed to ensuring the renovation work of Akyem Oda sports stadium to welcome back Oda based Kotoku Royals football club to play on their home soil and to help boost economic activities of Birim Central Municipality.
He said many people criticized and lambasted him when he first actively took part in Kotoku Royals football club welfare and rehabilitation of Oda sports stadium which discouraged him but upon calls from the team’s management and advise from stakeholders, He is now committed to help bring back Kotoku Royals football club to play at Akyem Oda.
He re-echoed the President’s call and urged the people to be citizens but not spectators.
He said if Kotoku Royals play their home games in Akyem Oda Municipal park it will help boost the economy as drivers, hotels, food and water vendors will all benefit.
Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah said he is not supporting Kotoku Royals FC for fun but to bring live and happiness to the people of Akyem Oda and its immediatel surroundings.
Kotoku Royals playing their home games in Akyem Oda Municipal park will improve unity and harmony to the people in the Akyemansa enclave.
He urged the people to come together so that they can help the team survive in the Ghana premier league.
The MP further promised that He will always to be there to support Kotoku Royals FC whenever the need arise.
Rev. Emmanuel Obeng Dompreh, an official of Kotoku Royal FC, receiving the money on behalf of the team, thanked the MP for always being the pillar for Kotoku Royals FC.
He prayed that God should help Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah in everything he does and also promised that they will use the money for it intended purpose.
