The District Chief Executive for Asene Manso Akroso, Hon. Eric Ahinakwa, has donated items to brilliant students who excelled in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Students who scored aggregates 6 to 15 were rewarded accordingly.
The overall best student who scored aggregate 6 received a trunk, student mattress, pillow, hamper filled with provisions and an amount of GH¢2,000. Those who scored aggregates 7 to 9 also received a trunk, student mattress, pillow, hamper and cash prizes respectively.
In all, 233 students were rewarded for their outstanding performance in the just-ended BECE.
This is the second time the District Chief Executive has rewarded brilliant students in the district.
In his address, Hon. Eric Ahinakwa expressed appreciation to all for the support given to him since day one.
According to him, without the support of everyone, he would not have been able to deliver as he is doing.
He promised to continue with the good work he is doing in the district.
He noted that before he took office, the performance of education in the district was not encouraging, but with the help of all, things have improved and will continue to improve.
He urged the students to stay away from drug abuse and focus on their education so they can achieve their goals in life. He also advised them to be respectful.
Hon. Eric Ahinakwa said next year, they will also reward students who graduate with good results from the two senior high schools in the district, namely Akroso Senior High School and Akyem Manso Senior High School.
The Queen Mother of Akroso, Nana Aboagyewaa Domina IV, commended the DCE for his benevolence and the good works he is doing in the district.
She advised the students to focus on their books and stay away from intimate relationships while in school. She encouraged them to take their studies seriously so they can make the district proud.
The NDC Chairman for the Asene Manso Akroso constituency said the NDC has done a lot for the people and urged them to continue supporting the party. He thanked the DCE for all the work he is doing.
