Ashanti Security Veteran Chides Napo…Calls for Responsible Leadership in Election Rhetoric

Former Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator Enoch Amoako-Nsiah has criticized Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s recent statements for sowing discord, describing them as a threat to national cohesion and Ashanti’s unity.

Dr. Prempeh, a Minister in the NPP government, allegedly warned Ashanti Region residents against voting for the NDC, suggesting that such a decision would be akin to a “curse” on the region.

Enoch Amoako-Nsiah warned that such divisive rhetoric not only threatens Ashanti but harms Ghana’s unity and shared identity.

Speaking at a media engagement in Kumasi he urged politicians to exercise responsibility in their messaging, calling on Asanteman to recognize leaders who promote inclusivity rather than division.

“Our region’s prosperity depends on a shared vision,” he stated, “and divisive language sets us back.” Enoch Amoako-Nsiah expressed hope that this election would focus on constructive, respectful debate on Ghana’s future.

With political rhetoric intensifying in the lead-up to Ghana’s elections, Enoch Amoako-Nsiah has expressed concerns about divisive statements being made by the NPP and its leaders.

Enoch Amoako-Nsiah warned that such statements could weaken national cohesion, fostering division rather than unity.

He expressed concern that remarks of this nature go beyond regular political debate, risking long-term harm to Ghana’s social fabric by introducing tribalism into political discourse.

“We cannot afford to undermine the peace and unity that Ghana has worked so hard to achieve,” he stated.

Enoch Amoako-Nsiah urged political leaders to recognize their responsibility in setting a tone that reflects Ghana’s values.

“Elections should be about policies, development, and the future, not about scaring people with divisive threats,” he emphasized. Calling for maturity and restraint, he encouraged Ashanti Region voters to look past inflammatory statements and consider which leaders genuinely prioritize Ghana’s development and unity.

He argued that support for the NDC and John Mahama could demonstrate a commitment to progress over rhetoric, urging voters to resist manipulation and consider the nation’s best interests.
