A Ghanaian-owned mining company, ATK Mining Company, has, as part of its efforts to give back to society, build an ultramodern police station for Akyem Asamaman in the Atiwa West District, Eastern Region.
The mining firm has been doing a lot of developmental projects for towns in Ghana since its establishment.
The Operations Manager of ATK Mining Company Mr. Godfred Williams-Nanyaa, in an interview with the media, expressed his appreciation to the Asamaman community for giving them the concession to work on it.
According to him, it’s their duty to bring projects to the community, so they will continue to do whatever is within their power to develop the area.
He said they are going to collaborate with the people to work hand in hand with the police so that they can maintain peace and order in the area.
He encourages the police to take very good care of the facility.
The Queen of Akyem Asamaman Nana Amoabima Gyasi advises the youth to comport themselves and stay out of trouble, because if anyone involves themselves in trouble and is sent to the police station, she will not use her power to release them; rather, they will face the law.
She challenges the police to work professionally so that it will not spoil the name of the institution.
The Eastern Regional South Police Commander ACP, Mr. George Boss Man Ohene-Boadi, said policing is a shared responsibility, so he encourages everyone to assist the police so that they can work very well in the area.
According to him, in the days of holding, there were no thieves in Akyem Asamaman, but just recently, even thieves came to his house to steal his generator, but they were not lucky. His security personnel were around to save the situation, so he advised the citizens to help the police deliver on their duty.
