The Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru Constituency, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has questioned why some people cannot campaign on their own strengths and merits, and instead involve the Flagbearer of the NPP, His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in internal elections.
He asked why any aspirant seeking to occupy an office cannot campaign on their own ideas and track record, unless they have to use the name of the Flagbearer, who has no involvement and is rather interested in working with whoever is elected by delegates.
“If you are an aspirant and you cannot campaign on your own strength and ideas unless you use the name of the Flagbearer, then you have no business asking delegates to vote for you,” he stated.
Hon. Osei Nyarko said the big question delegates should ask before voting is: _”Who among the aspirants can help bring the party back to power?”_
“That must be what occupies your mind, not people just using the name of the Flagbearer for their personal benefit,” he added.
He noted that the Flagbearer, as all party members know, does not sanction this divisive approach. He will gladly welcome all winners in the upcoming Regional and National elections and work together with them to secure victory for the party in the next general elections.
