The newly installed Chief of Gomoa Jukwa-Idankrom in the Central Region, Nana Kojo Idan IX has outlined his vision of putting the youth of his town into vocational skill training such as carpentry, masonry, hair dressing and catering as well as driving among others.
Nana Kojo Idan who disclosed this vision in an interview hinted that already about twenty of the youth is currently undergoing apprenticeship of the various skill training.
According to him, the initiative, with the support of the elders of the town and parents is to help get rid of street and wayward children from the town.
Immediately after his installation about a month ago, Nana Kojo Idan who is a teacher by profession also assured to help promote quality education, especially among girls in his town.
He has however debunked the assertion held by some that chieftaincy is fetish, noting that it is rather a sacred institution that promotes and protects one’s culture and identity as a people, and has therefore appealed to all Chiefs, particularly the younger ones to help preserve this dignity.
He stressed that failure to do that will make the Chieftaincy Institution continue to lose the revered dignity that it use to have.
