The Member of Parliament for the people of Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region Hon. Joseph Akwasi Frimpong has begun efforts to improve Information Communication Technology (ICT) education for school children living within the Zongo communities in the area by putting up an ICT center at the Nkawkaw Islamic school.
This was made known when our Community Watch Team (CWT), led by Nana Kwame Andoh visited the Nkawkaw Zongo community to ascertain the level of development going on in the area.
Introducing the project to our news team, Alhaji Mohammed Hamidu, a secretary to the Nkawkaw Municipal Chief Imam who took us on a tour of projects revealed that, after government made the effort by building a brand new modern six unit classroom block with ancillary facilities in order to improve teaching and learning at the Nkawkaw Islamic school through the Zongo and Inter City Development Ministry, the Member of Parliament upon assuming office decided to improve the educational status by adding a 40 seater capacity ICT centre to help upgrade the knowledge of pupils in the sector.
“Our Member of Parliament made a passionate commitment to upgrade the educational status of Islamic pupils, especially in the field of ICT knowledge and as you can see it’s exactly what he is doing with appreciable speed.
The government as you have seen, has provided this modern six unit classroom block for our children.
It is also putting up a one story Islamic kindergarten building with efforts of labour from the community (self help project) which is ongoing and now, our MP has also added this facility and we the people of Zongo are so grateful to the NPP government” He said.
According to him, they have had their fair share of national cake from the president, H.E. Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo’s government and thanked him for the efforts.
“We in the Zongo here at Nkawkaw have had our fair share of national cake from the president and we are very grateful to him and our MP, Hon. Joseph Akwasi Frimpong”, He added.
Accessing the rate of work on the project, it can be said that the 40 seater ICT centre is about 40 percent complete with work speedily ongoing at the site.
It is envisaged that the project after completion, will improve ICT education for pupils of the Nkawkaw Islamic school and children in neighbouring communities.
