Ellembelle DCE Presents Scholarships To First Batch Of Beneficiaries

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ellembelle, Hon. Kwasi Bonzoh, and officials of the Ghana National Gas Company have presented scholarships to the first batch of beneficiaries under the Ellembelle Scholarship Scheme.

The Ellembelle District Assembly launched this Scholarship Scheme to support students in tertiary institutions, providing financial relief to those whose parents or guardians lack the means to fund their education.

At a ceremony last Sunday, the DCE emphasized the NPP government’s commitment to improving education in the country, highlighting its importance for societal advancement and the development of critical thinking, financial stability, and open-mindedness.

“Education is a powerful tool that sharpens critical thinking, unveils individual and societal potentials, and promotes financial stability. It plays a crucial role in building a modern society, opens doors to more opportunities, and creates equal opportunities for people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds,” said Hon. Bonzoh.

He also mentioned the positive impact of the Free SHS policy in raising an educated society for the nation’s development.

The Ellembelle District Assembly has historically supported brilliant but needy students using its limited resources.

The launch of the scholarship scheme is a significant relief for the Assembly.

Hon. Bonzoh urged the beneficiaries to study diligently and make the most of the opportunity, emphasizing the importance of using education to combat poverty.

He called on Ghanaians to support the government’s educational initiatives and avoid politicizing them, stressing that education requires a holistic and collective effort from all political parties and citizens.

He advised the beneficiaries to work hard to fully benefit from the scholarship, noting that the nation’s progress relies on its educated human resources.

This year, over 1,000 students applied for the scholarship, and more are expected to benefit in the future.

The scheme spans across all political divisions and considers academic performance, family backgrounds, and residency in Ellembelle as requirements for one to benefit.

The SRC President of Takoradi Technical University, Cosmos Dadzie Junior, praised the DCE and the Ghana National Gas Company for their support.

“Your commitment to supporting education and empowering the youth is truly commendable and greatly appreciated. The scholarships you have provided will significantly ease the financial burdens on our students and enable them to focus more on their studies and personal development. This gesture is not only a financial support but also a source of inspiration, motivating our students to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits,” he said.

“Your dedication to fostering educational opportunities will undoubtedly contribute to the development of skilled professionals who will, in turn, give back to our society. Once again, thank you for your generosity and unwavering support. We look forward to maintaining a fruitful relationship with you as a university and the Ellembelle District Assembly,” Dadzie added.

The scholarship has over 450 beneficiaries, who recognize the positive impact of the DCE’s efforts on their lives and the community.
