It is such an incredible year for Kumasi Asante Kokoko Football Club. As the Africa Club of the Century turned 91 years on August 31, 2026, the Porcupine’s living legend Reverend Sir Osei Kofi also turned 86 years on June 3, 2026.
For both Kotoko and Reverend Sir Osei Kofi, a lot have happened and recorded throughout these lengthy years.
Therefore, it is worth celebrating both of them and heap praises on them for a job well done.
Chalking many glories on the continent with two CAF Interclubs trophies in 1971 and 1983, 24 league titles, 10 FA Cups plus many other silverwares into their cabinet is certainly iconic feats that deserves commendation from all and sundry.
This rich story can never be complete without including the exploits of their kingpin Reverend Sir Osei Kofi.
The dribbling GOAT, apart from leading the Porcupine Warriors to their historic maiden African trophy in 1971 has also powered Kotoko to many victories both home and abroad.
He is in the golden books of Ghana as the first and only player to have participated in three Olympic Games in Tokyo 1964, Mexico 1968 and Munich 1972. He was also integral part of the Black Stars unprecedented successes in 1963 and 1965.
It can take probably a full book or months to showcase the immense achievements of Reverend Sir Osei Kofi who rejected a mouthwatering deal from English giants Stoke City in 1969 due to his commitment and love for Kotoko.
On the occasion of his 86th birthday, his lovely hardworking son based in the United Kingdom, Emmanuel Osei showed his father an overwhelming love at his residence in Kasoa, in the Central Region.
Just like his father, Emmanuel Osei “Junior” also started as a footballer with huge potential. He played for some lower division clubs across the country with the vigour to follow the footsteps of his idol father.
Along the line, he left the shores of the country to pursue his education and greener pastures abroad.
He is now a responsible family man currently plying his trade in England together with his wife and kids.
Emmanuel Osei is highly remembered for honouring his father with a historic book tittled “Ghana’s Dribbling Wizard – Osei Kofi” which portrays the yeoman’s job of indefatigable Reverend Sir Osei Kofi.
