The Chief of Agona Kwaman in the Central Region and Akwamuhen of the Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, Nana Opaaku Yeboah VI has bemoaned the lack of reliable mobile Telecommunication Network in his town, saying it remains a major concern to the people, as it makes making calls difficult, even in times of emergency.
He has therefore appealed to the mobile Telecommunication Networks, especially MTN to improve their service in the area.
Speaking in an interview with the media prior to this year’s Annual Akwambo Festival celebration of the town, the Chief also called for the establishment of, at least, a Vocational Institute by the government in the town, if not a Secondary School to help train the teeming youth in vocational skills.
He further touched on the dilapidated state of the public school in the town, the Methodist Basic School, describing it as a death trap, as it poses serious risk to the students.
The Chief, Nana Opaaku Yeboah later expressed grave concern about the increasing abuse of drugs among majority of the youth of the town, hinting that as traditional authorities, they lias with the police to help address the problem.
According to him, they have used cinema to educate the youth about the consequences of the abuse of drugs, but still to no avail, and therefore considers arrest as the next option.
