NDC Likely To Loose Grounds In Dome-Kwabenya As MP, MCE Creating Division In The Party

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is facing serious crisis in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency of the Greater Accra Region as the Member of Parliament (MP), Elikplim Akurugu for the area and the Ga East Municipal Executive (MCE) Edmond Agbo for creating division among executives in the constituency.

The situation according to information likely to negatively affect the NDC of retaining parliamentary seat as well win more votes presidentially.

The situation, according to allege information, was due the failure of executives of the NDC to abide by a court injunction notice on the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency elections last Saturday whic led to chaos that was difficult to be handled even with the presence of security personnel at the election center.

Speaking to journalists, Emmanuel Odai Tettey, who also contested for the Vice Chairmanship position blamed the MP for the Dome-Kwabenya constituency. Elipklim Akurugu as well as the MCE for being the orchestrators of the issue.

He disclosed that all advises by the candidates that contested for the Vice Chairmanship for a recount pf the ballot papers after a misunderstanding proves futile as the party’s regional representative took the ballot box into his car and drove away without given information of where he was taking it (the ballot box) to.

He stated that the failure by the MP, MCE and the party’s regional representative to ensure that an earlier court injunction placed on the election was ignored led to the bad situation.

He therefore queried about why the election was not supervised by officials of the electoral Commission (EC) as it was done in all the constituencies across the country but rather officials of the party appointed by the MP and the MCE.

He accused Mr. Alberth Akurugu, who serves as the Director of Operations at the office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for intimidating people at the elections center with supports from the MP and the MCE.

“How can Alberth Akurugu now become the master planner when it comes to electing of Dome-Kwabenya constituency executives” he asked.
