In spite of her regular engagement with her constituents to improve on their livelihoods, a professional nutritionist with reputable records in public health, food and nutrition, Obaatanpa Maame Pokua Sawyer, MP for Agona East met with Women to sensitise them on the threat of Breast Cancer.
This was part of the World Breast Cancer Awareness Month which falls in October of every year.
According to Maame Pokua Sawyer the event was so necessary especially when breast cancer is increasingly ruining the lives of mothers in our part of the world most especially the rural inhabitants.
Obaatanpa Maame Pokuah used the privilege to empathize with those diagnosed with cancerous diseases, and as a nutritionist stressed on the need to take a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits more often as an alternative to mitigate the situation.
She emphatically stated that, SUGAR is not good for the affected persons and indicated that vegetables like kontomere and also some fresh fruits including banana, mangoes, pineapple, are major panaceas to breast cancer since the disease is curable.”
It was a very interactive event so she allowed all sort of concerns in relation to cancer to be put before her and she humbly urged them on.
She also pledged her full support to reduce the rate of breast cancer cases in her constituency following her speciality in food, nutrition and public health.
