The CEO of Sam Creatives has appealed to Charterhouse Productions, organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, to consider working with professional fashion designers and stylists for musicians ahead of next year’s awards ceremony.
According to him, although the event was successful and entertaining, the dressing of some celebrities became one of the biggest conversations on social media after the show.
Speaking on the issue, he explained that artistes are always in the public eye and their appearance at major events also reflects on the image of the entertainment industry.
He noted that many international award schemes pay attention not only to performances but also to fashion and presentation, adding that Ghana’s music industry should also begin taking celebrity styling more seriously.
“Some of the musicians looked amazing on the red carpet, but honestly, others needed proper styling. We have talented fashion designers in Ghana who can help project our artistes very well,” he said.
After the awards night, social media was flooded with reactions from fans and entertainment followers. While some celebrities were praised for their outfits, others were heavily criticised over what many described as poor fashion choices.
On X, Facebook and Instagram, some users questioned the outfits worn by a few stars, with others saying certain looks appeared rushed and uncoordinated for such a major event.
A section of social media users also called for celebrities to pay more attention to their appearance during award shows, arguing that fashion has become an important part of entertainment culture globally.
The Sam Creatives boss further stated that involving professional stylists would help musicians look more confident and prepared on the red carpet while also creating opportunities for Ghanaian fashion designers to showcase their work.
He added that better styling would help shift attention from negative fashion conversations to the achievements and performances of the artistes during the awards night.
This year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards brought together several musicians, actors, influencers and industry players, with many moments from the event still generating conversations online.
