SAM GEORGE IN HOT WATERS As He Stands Accused of Illegal Land Grabbing at Old Ningo

The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Samuel Nartey George, has been accused of forcibly taking over land belonging to chiefs and individuals within Old Ningo in the Greater Accra Region.

The Minister, who also serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, is alleged to be using his political power to dispossess people of their legally acquired properties in the area.

Asafoatse Nartey Wayo Akamisah II, Head of the Djangmaku Weguam Family of Ningo, stated:
“Our MP has been chasing us daily with fully armed police officers, allegedly acting as land guards, from our legally acquired properties for the past months.”

According to the Asafoatse, the Minister allegedly backdated a site plan in preparation for a new indenture to gain access to the said 10 acres of land belonging to their family and other individuals.

The persistent actions of the Minister’s alleged sponsored, fully armed police officers have reportedly forced many residents to vacate the area and relocate to other communities.

The Asafoatse further disclosed their readiness to vote against their MP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections if the Minister’s conduct continues.

The traditional leader described President John Dramani Mahama as a listening leader and appealed to him to intervene and halt the Minister’s alleged actions in the area.

“We are law-abiding citizens, which is why we do not want to take the law into our own hands and confront the MP and his armed men who allegedly attack us daily,” he added.

Meanwhile, all efforts to obtain a response from Mr. Samuel Nartey George proved unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.

This publication, however, remains ready to present the Minister’s side of the story when it becomes available.
