The National Coordinator of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP), Ms. Mawusi Ama Mawuenyafia, has delivered a stirring call to action to young women, urging them to embrace boldness, purpose, and influence in shaping their future leadership trajectories.
She made the remarks on 25th June 2026 at the Women of Valor and Influence Conference, organized by the TEIN Chapter of the Ghana Communication Technology University, held at the Silicon Valley Auditorium.
The conference brought together students, political youth activists, and women leaders under the theme: “Bold, Purposeful and Influential: Shaping the Next Generation of Women Leaders.”
In her keynote address, Ms. Mawuenyafia challenged young women to break psychological and societal limitations that often restrict their potential.
She stressed that boldness should not be misconstrued as fearlessness, but rather as the willingness to act despite uncertainty.
“Boldness is not the absence of fear,” she stated. “Boldness is recognizing that the cost of inaction is greater than the cost of failure.”
Her statement drew strong applause from the audience, many of whom described her message as timely and transformational.
She further emphasized that purposeful living is the foundation of sustainable leadership and meaningful impact.
According to her, individuals without purpose are easily distracted and unable to withstand adversity.
“Purpose is what keeps you standing when everything else is shaking around you,” she noted.
“You cannot be influential without being purposeful. Purpose gives you direction, and more than that, purpose gives you resilience.”
Ms. Mawuenyafia urged students to align their academic pursuits with long-term personal and societal goals.
She encouraged the women of TEIN-GCTU to view education as a tool for transformation rather than mere academic achievement.
She also highlighted the importance of self-belief, discipline, and consistency in leadership development.
“Influence is not given; it is built through consistency, integrity, and service,” she added.
The rCOMSDEP Coordinator reminded the students that mistakes are an inevitable part of growth and should not define one’s destiny.
She spoke candidly about personal experiences, noting that setbacks can serve as stepping stones when properly understood.
“Mistakes make us human,” she said. “There’s no time to waste on the past. I’ve made mistakes too, but I learnt from them and moved on.”
Her message of resilience resonated deeply with the audience, particularly young women aspiring to leadership roles.
Ms. Mawuenyafia challenged the participants to define their values early and remain anchored to them despite external pressures.
“You are the next generation of women leaders,” she charged. “Stand firm, define what you stand for, and let your values guide you.”
She further called for greater solidarity among women, emphasizing mentorship, peer support, and collective advancement.
The event also featured remarks from other distinguished women leaders within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ecosystem.
Among them was the Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Hon. Abigail Elorm Mensah, who underscored the importance of youth entrepreneurship and empowerment.
Also present was Hon. Naa Ayele Hammond, Deputy TEIN Coordinator for the Greater Accra Region, who commended the initiative as a platform for leadership grooming.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions on leadership, personal development, and gender inclusion in governance and technology.
The atmosphere throughout the conference was marked by enthusiasm, reflection, and renewed motivation among attendees.
Organizers described the event as part of a broader effort to nurture a new generation of women equipped for leadership in politics, technology, and enterprise.
Ms. Mawuenyafia’s address was widely regarded as the highlight of the conference, setting a powerful tone for future engagements.
The conference concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to embrace boldness, live purposefully, and cultivate meaningful influence in their communities.
