Former Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Dr Kingsley Agyemang, has rejected what he describes as false and misleading allegations made against him by Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Madam Sabah Zita Benson.
In a press statement issued through his lawyers, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, on August 13, 2026, Dr Agyemang denied any wrongdoing in relation to his tenure as Registrar of the Scholarship Secretariat.
The lawyers said their client executed his responsibilities as Registrar with utmost diligence and therefore rejected any suggestion that he engaged in wrongdoing.
They further noted that the High Commissioner had acknowledged that investigations had already commenced into allegations of corruption surrounding scholarship awards during the previous administration.
Against this background, the lawyers questioned the decision to use the media to publicly accuse their client instead of allowing the appropriate security and investigative institutions to complete their work.
They described the High Commissioner’s alleged resort to public commentary against Dr Agyemang as regrettable and unwarranted.
According to the statement, the latest allegations were not the first occasion on which the High Commissioner had made what the lawyers described as serious allegations without regard for ongoing investigations by state security and investigative agencies.
The lawyers said Dr Agyemang had made himself available to the relevant state institutions and was cooperating fully with investigations to ensure that the allegations were thoroughly examined.
They said their client remained committed to clearing his name and ensuring that the matter reached a definitive conclusion through the appropriate investigative processes.
The statement described Dr Agyemang as a law-abiding citizen who remained focused on discharging the mandate entrusted to him for the benefit of the people of Abuakwa South.
His lawyers said he remained firmly committed to the rule of law and due process.
They added that Dr Agyemang remained confident that the truth would eventually prevail and that he would be vindicated.
