The recent incidents of Indiscipline in the country, especially among the youth, including students, and the current development of verbal abuse by some political actors on social media has been blamed on the failure of society, glorifying the practice in the name of freedom of speech and human rights.
The development, according to the leader of the Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith Church, Snr. Pastor Justice Abban, if not checked, could destroy the moral fibre of the country’s society.
Speaking at the sidelines of this year’s Annual Camp Meeting of the Church at its Headquarters at Agona Asafo in the Central Region, Snr. Pastor Justice Abban criticize politicians for glorifying the practice because it tarnishes the reputation of their political opponents, noting that it rather encourages disrespect among the up and coming generations.
He has therefore called for stiffer punishment against people who have developed the habit and engage in the practice, to serve as deterrent to others.
“The fact that we are in a democratic era with its associated freedom of speech does not warrant anyone to get up and insult anybody at will and go Scott free” he stressed.
Touching on the recent directive by the president to ban preaching in commercial vehicles, Snr. Pastor Abban also called for a critical look at instances where some drivers of these commercial vehicles play loud music in the vehicles whiles driving, a situation he said can also make the driver lose concentration.
The Camp Meeting, which is attended by members of the Church across the country also marks the Church’s 85th Anniversary since its formation in 1941.
