“We however commend the government in their swift response to the matter by sending delegation delegation to console with the Zongo community and he bereaved families, and also promised to set up an independent committee to investigate the matter,” he stated.
The Tamale Zongo chief expressed the hope that government will go by its promise in order to find a lasting solution to the problem.
It could be recalled that some seven Zongo youth were allegedly killed when they were mistaken by the police for members of an eight-man armed robbery gang who had attacked a sprinter bus and shot dead a police officer at Ayirebikrom near Manso Nkwanta in the Amasie West District of the Region.
The development had generated controversies over the conduct of the police which many people believed the murdered unjustly killed since there are not armed robbers.
However Sheihu Dalhu Abdul-Mumin is hoping that government and the security agencies will quicken their investigation so as to establish the truth in time.
