Chief Supports Colleague Over Creation Of Upper Chamber

The Ahenmbahene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council and Nimfahen  of Gomoa Afransi in the Central Region, Nana Mireku Annto I has  extended his support to the Ya Na for the creation of an upper chamber in Parliament, but said the call by the Dagbon Chief for the scrapping of the Council of State is a constitutional provision which requires amendment of the constitution.

Though Nana Mireku Annto noted that the call by the Ya Na for the creation of an upper chamber is a laudable idea, he however stressed that this may take a long time, as a lot of consultations have to be embarked upon.

He said though Chiefs are not expected to engage in active party politics, he pointed out that at least they should be given the opportunity to have a say in the governance system in the country.
