
The Royal Twidan Family of Owani in Agona Swedru in the Central Region have ended their wee-klong Yam Festival celebration which saw a ban on all farming activities on lands belonging to the family, except harvesting of food crops such corn, cassava among others but excluding cash crop such as cocoa.
The Yam Festival which is celebrated prior to the Annual Akwambo festival of the town was led by the Nimfahen and Regent of the town, Nana Kweku Esieni V, who is also the head of the Royal Owani Twidan Family.
Speaking to the media during the celebration, Nana Esieni revealed that the Yam Festival is an annual ritual performed and celebrated by their great grand ancestors over three centuries ago to usher in the new crop.
