Young Professional Accountants Network has collaborated with the University of Professional Studies Accra to co-host the National Accounting Quiz 2017 at its Auditorium from 3- 7 October, 2017.
Executive Director of Young Professional Accountants Network Ghana, Mr. Oheneba Kwabena Kena said “the objective of the competition is to provide exposure and garner the interest of students to learn and gain knowledge about the accounting field and the accountancy profession”.
He also added that this event provides an opportunity for students from various institutions to get to know each other, building an effective network and eventually growing and adapting to the ever-changing outside world.
According to the Head of Accounting Department, Dr. Helen Ahulu, UPSA was highly elated about the collaboration with Young Professional Accountants Network to co-host this year’s National Accounting Quiz.
She also added that accounting quiz is the best platform to motivate and enhance the student’s knowledge in the field of accounting.
Frank Edem Adanuty, President of Department of Students Association reiterated their readiness to collaborate with Young Professional Accountants Network to co-host the maiden National Accounting Quiz.
According to the Head of Media and Publicity of the NAQ, Mr. Isaac Amponsah, as this is the first time the accounting quiz was held for accounting students, there is an overwhelming response from the students of various universities.
The institutions are group into four groups and the competition is fierce. Two universities from each group move to the quarter finals of the competition.
There were four rounds of quizzes; the preliminary, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final. At the end of the competition, one institution will be crowned champion of NAQ 2017.
The prizes of the National Accounting Quiz are .scholarships, investment and cash prizes, student accessories, internship and job opportunities.
NAQ 2017 is organized by the Young Professional Accountants Network and endorsed by the Ministry of Education. The event’s sponsors are Databank, Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, YPAN Consult and Ramafrique Limited.
