The President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo has reiterated government’s desire to establish close relations with Francophone states within the ECOWAS region and the world at large.
According to him, since Ghana was adopted into the Associate stages of Francophone states, there has been little or no movement of revolution about their movement and relations, and that he is particularly enthused about current efforts to ignite the spirit of partnership.
The President was addressing Francophone Ambassadors at the Flagstaff House in Accra yesterday where he indicated that the basic policy positions of his government, is the absolute and essential to find the way of bridging the gap and establishing close relations with Francophone nations across the world, especially in the ECOWAS commission.
He believes that that will form the basis for the success of the ECOWAS community to make it a vital and meaningful organization to bring the relationship of English and French speaking countries closer.
Nana Akufo-Addo also mentioned that there is the need to focus on the relations Ghana has with her neighbours within the ECOWAS commission so as to be able to factor it into its grand agenda of creating economic partnership that will boost trade and commerce.
He however revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affair will make a formal response on the position of government on the issues raised in their meetings and was hopeful that they will accentuate the relation with francophone organizations and French speaking people.
