The Chief of Buipe, Buipewura Jinapor II, has joined prominent national figures in endorsing Ghanaian author and cultural historian Ishmael A. Junourgh as he prepares for a literary tour in the Netherlands aimed at promoting African storytelling, history and cultural identity.
The endorsement adds to growing institutional and traditional support for the author’s upcoming European engagement, which is expected to feature book readings, academic discussions and cultural exchanges with members of the African diaspora, scholars and literary enthusiasts.
The tour is seen as a platform to project African narratives globally, with particular emphasis on Ghanaian heritage and indigenous oral traditions.
Junourgh, a graduate student at the Institute of African Studies and holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the African University College of Communications, is widely recognised for his work in preserving African history through literature inspired by traditional storytelling forms.
He often describes his creative approach as rooted in ancestral griot traditions, using symbolic storytelling techniques passed down through generations.
His published works—including *Not Forsaken: Diaries of an African Child* (2019), *Ancestors Prologue: Diaries of an African Child* (2022), and *Ladimeh: Abandoned African Slave* (2024)—have gained attention across international readership circles.
Supporters of the Netherlands tour, including traditional authorities and public figures, say the initiative will help elevate Ghanaian literature on the global stage while strengthening cultural ties between Africa and Europe.
The Netherlands tour is expected to open further conversations on African identity, heritage preservation and contemporary storytelling within international literary spaces.
Ishmael A. Junourgh in an interview expressed appreciation to Buipewura Jinapor II for his support and sponsorship.
