Bolt Food’s orders beyond restaurant delivery grew by 154% during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, as more Ghanaians used the platform to order groceries, pharmacy products, health and beauty items, electronics, home essentials, pet care products and other everyday purchases.
The growth reflects changing customer expectations, with consumers increasingly looking for a single platform that can reliably deliver everything from meals to groceries, pharmaceuticals, electronics and other household essentials.
According to Bolt Food, the expansion was driven by customer behaviour rather than a change in strategy.
“We observed customers naturally wanting more from a platform they already trusted,” said Ali Zaryab, General Manager, Bolt Food. “Once people trust a platform to deliver a meal reliably, it’s only natural they begin expecting the same convenience for groceries, pharmacy items and everyday retail purchases. We simply responded to how our customers were already choosing to shop.”
Today, Bolt Food has evolved beyond restaurant delivery, giving customers in Ghana access to a wider range of everyday businesses across categories such as groceries, pharmacies, health and beauty, electronics, home essentials, pet care, flowers, and sports and travel. By bringing everyday shopping into a single app, Bolt Food is making it easier for customers to access the products they need, when they need them.
The company says the expansion also addresses one of the biggest challenges associated with traditional online shopping, delivery visibility.
Unlike many conventional e-commerce deliveries, where customers often have limited visibility after placing an order, Bolt Food enables customers to track their courier in real time from pickup to delivery, providing greater certainty around arrival times while helping merchants fulfil orders more efficiently.
“Convenience today isn’t just about speed, it’s about certainty, Zaryab added. “Customers want to know exactly where their order is and when it will arrive. Real-time tracking gives customers greater confidence while helping businesses deliver on their commitments.”
For merchants, the expansion represents an opportunity to reach more customers through an established logistics network while improving delivery reliability and customer satisfaction.
“As consumer needs continue to evolve, so will the way we support them,” Zaryab said. “By bringing food, groceries, pharmacy products and retail shopping together in one trusted platform, we’re creating greater convenience for customers while helping local businesses reach more people and supporting additional earning opportunities for courier partners.”
