The concerned citizens of Akyem Oda Nkwanta in the Birim Central Municipality, Eastern Region, have registered their displeasure over the neglect of the construction of their park.
They express their deep concerns and disappointments regarding the neglect of the construction of the football field project in our town.
According to them it is disheartening to witness the significant amount of funding trenched into this endeavor and the current state of abandonment it has reached.
Moreover, they feel remorse to inform the leaders in the Municipality that the neglected area has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, worsening the dire situation.
The football field, which held great promise for the community, has unfortunately been left in an incomplete and neglected state and at the mercy of the unfavorable weather, as erosion continues to rill out the soil.
The substantial funds allocated for this project have seemingly gone to waste as the construction has reached a standstill. This does not only reflects poorly on the overall development of our town but also highlights the mismanagement of resources that could have been put to better use if proper oversight responsibility was employed.
What adds to the distress is the fact that the neglected football field has now become a breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other strange animals.
The neglect has led to the overgrown of weeds and the accumulation of debris, creating an environment conducive to animal habitation and in-conducive for residents in the area, as they continue to battle with mosquitoes.
This poses several concerns for our community, including health hazards, other potential threats, and a general sense of disregard for the well-being of our residents.
A community folk who for confidentiality reason cannot name, recounted how she narrowly escaped from a snake which nearly bit her on the field as she tried to navigate her way through to the other side. For the sake of the health and security of residents who are in close proximity to the field, we entreat all stakeholders to come onboard to salvage the situation.
It is disheartening to witness such a promising initiative fall into such a state of despair. The funds invested in this project were meant to enhance our community’s sporting opportunities, provide a safe and well-maintained recreational space, and foster the development of our youth. Unfortunately, the current state of affairs has undermined these objectives and left a sense of disillusionment among the residents.
We kindly request you to take immediate action to rectify this situation. It is essential that the necessary steps are taken to complete the construction of the football field and restore it to a functional and usable state. This would not only honor the investments made but also provide our community with a much-needed space for physical activity, social interaction, and the cultivation of young talent.
Furthermore, we urge all relevant stakeholders involved to thoroughly investigate the reasons behind the mismanagement of this project vis-à-vis the funds allocated to it. Accountability must be established to prevent a recurrence of similar instances in the future. It is important that responsible parties are held accountable for the wastage of the resources and that measures are put in place to ensure transparency, efficiency, and proper oversight in future development projects.
We kindly request that you communicate with the appropriate authorities and collaborate with other relevant stakeholders to promptly address this neglect. Our community deserves a space that reflects our collective aspirations and provides opportunities for growth and development.
To address any doubts, I have included current photographs of the place as a supporting evidence to my letter.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We trust in you for your commitment to the welfare of our community, and we hope to see the necessary actions taken to remedy the current situation.
Best regards,
Concerned residents of Oda-Nkwanta.
