The Director of Programmes of the Youth Education and Awareness Society (YES), a Ghanaian-based Islamic Non-Governmental Organization, Abdul Rahman Ibrahim has said the vision of the NGO is to offer material and financial support to deprived communities as well as brilliant but needy students at the tertiary level.
Briefing Ghananews247.com on the vision of his organization, Mr Abdul Rahman Ibrahim disclosed that though an Islamic organization, the NGO offer non-denominational support to communities based on the needs of the people in those communities.
Established eight years ago, he hinted that the organization has so far constructed over one thousand boreholes and wells for various deprived communities across the country, including schools.
He further disclosed that the organization has also constructed school buildings for some Basic Schools where school children study in dilapidated structures.
According to him, because tertiary education is not free as compared to Basic and Senior High Schools, the organization has also taken it upon itself to offer financial assistance to brilliant but needy students to pursue further education at the tertiary level.
He noted that so far, about one hundred students have benefitted under the programme and expressed the hope that more could be done in the future.
