Do The Needful To Ensure Peaceful Election – EC told.

An elderly statesman and member of the Clergy, Pastor Ofosu Ankomah of the 1st Century Gospel Church at Agona Nyakrom in the Central Region has advised the Electoral Commission to do the needful by allowing for a forensic audit on the voters register to clear all the doubt about it.

He said if that is done, it will help create a peaceful political atmosphere in the country.

The concern, which was initially raised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has now become a major concern, not only to the other political parties, but to majority of Ghanaians, including civil society organizations, thereby leading to the call for a forensic audit into the register.

The call stems from the claim by the NDC that it has identify that names of some eligible voters have been transfered by the Electoral Commission from one region to other, without the knowledge of the voters But the Electoral Commission seem adamant to the call, a position some say could lead to possible electoral violence, if not heeded to and addressed.

Speaking to Ghana news247, Pastor Ankomah described the stand by the EC as a recipe for chaos, and therefore advised it to open its doors for a forensic audit to be conducted on the register, to clear all the doubts.

He further advised that failing to heed to the call by the masses will in turn create the impression held by some that the EC want to influence the election to favor a particular political party.

He later admonished Ghanaians to exhibit a character of peace before, during and after the elections to merit the claim that they are a peace loving people, and that, Ghana is the hub of democracy on the African continent.
