Religious leaders have been advised not to engage in political affairs of the country because it is an institution full of lies that has the tendency of corrupting even people with good morals.
The advice was given by the minister in charge of the First Century Gospel Church, Pastor Seth Fosu Ankomah and the founder of the Victory Hands Of God Church, Apostle Jonah Edu Fenyi both in Agona Nyakrom in separate interviews with Ghananews247.com.
According to them, the nature of politics and its associated freedom of speech does not augur well for religious leaders to engage in, as it is always aimed at deceiving and amassing wealth by those who engage in it, to the detriment of the ordinary people.
Their advice comes at a time when people from all walks of life, including religious leaders in the country are trooping to contest for various political positions such as political party executives or as members of Parliament.
Whereas some schools of thoughts are of the opinion that engaging in politics by religious leaders will help sanitize the political landscape of the country, others, including Pastor Seth Fosu Ankomah and Apostle Jonah Edu Fenyi are of the opinion that politics as an institution will rather corrupt the good morals religious leaders who engage in it.
