The Deputy Minister of Health who doubles as the MP for Akyem Oda constituency in the Birim Central Municipality Eastern Region, in collaboration with Ghana Enterprise Agency and Mastercard Foundation, graduated over 150 youth in craftsmanship.
This initiative is expected to enhance employability, foster entrepreneurship, and contribute to the region’s economic growth.
The graduates mastered various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, hairdressing, fashion and designing, electrical works, makeup, welding, fabrication, and tiling.
They received equipment to enhance their skills.
The Deputy Minister encouraged youth to learn handiwork after completing Senior High School, emphasizing its potential for financial independence and ease while traveling abroad.
He noted that having a skill eliminates reliance on others for employment.
Hon. Joyce Adwoa Agyeiwa, Birim Central Municipality’s MCE, advised graduates to utilize their skills effectively, citing lucrative opportunities in their chosen trades.
Mr. Eric Obeng, Eastern Regional Director of Ghana Enterprise Agency, urged the graduates to put their skills into practice, rather than remaining idle.
He emphasized the government’s goal of creating jobs for youth through such initiatives.
This graduation ceremony demonstrates the commitment to empowering Ghana’s youth through vocational training, addressing the country’s employment challenges.
By acquiring practical skills, these graduates are better equipped to succeed in their chosen fields.
